Sharon Alward

Sharon Alward is a Canadian performance and video artist. Her projects explore postmodern religious thought and the bodily dimension of knowledge in an attempt at reconciliation with oneself and one's community. Her controversial works have been exhibited in Canada, the United States, England, France, Spain and the Netherlands. She is an Associate Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Manitoba. She has been nominated for the Art Pace Fellowship, has had her work selected by the American Film Institute and the Canadian National Screen Institute. She was nominated for a Blizzard Award in 2001 for the best Experimental Film for "Christian Woman of Virtue". Alward recently collaborated with Cindy Donatelli titled "Married to the Mob, The Godfather Goodfellas and the Sopranos" for the book This Thing of Ours. In 2002 she performed " Liminal Acts" at the Western Front Gallery in Vancouver.
