Land of Milk and Honey, The
1985, Video, 14:00 (Colour, Mono)
The Land of Milk and Honey explores the mythology of the west cowboys, oil money, rednecks, N.C. The tape’s audio track is composed of archetypical western stories gathered through interviews with local officials, rodeo cowboys, farmers and other westerners who embody and propagate the myth of the west. Visually, through a variety of special effects, the tape reconstructs archetypal images of the west. These visual “reconstructions” develop a subtle critique of the stories being told.
