Vacation/ Vacances
1986, Video, 12:30 (Colour Black & White, Mono)
With the tape, a vacation is remembered and reconstructed in fragments, drawing attention to what is seen, what is heard, and the self/selves who are the tourists/ observers. The world is seen through the mythic sense of the garden; the tourist is both observer and intruder in the garden. Industry, however, is the violator of the garden. The examination of the notion of vacation brings the focus of the tape to personal history, memory and the construction of the self.
