1995, Audio Cassette, 35:00(Stereo)
A minimal composition, this time from a digital synthesizer. It seemed to me that the way memory-bank synthesizers tend to be set up, they are too bureaucratic in their organization to be very responsive or interactive as instruments; my idea was therefore to send a metronome midi-pulse to the synthesizer and let it interact with its own complex operations while I would only oversee the conditions. I was satisfied with the results when they were sufficiently ambiguous with regard to whether they were in fact developing somehow over time (due to feedback buildup, phase shifting, etc.) or whether I was just imagining they were; wondering again where people stand in relation to musical language, “ideal” things and technology.
