Lost Tribe (Wa Wa Tay Wak)

Composer Andrew Balfour's original composition entitled Wa Wa Tey Wak (Northern Lights) is a thirty minute oratorio based on an Aboriginal theme. It is performed by Balfour's choral group Camerata Nova, a vocal ensemble specializing in early and contemporary classical and world music. Recorded by CBC in March 2006, and again at the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra's New Music Festival in February 2007, Wa Wa Tay Wak was commissioned as a DVD project with video artist Bryan Besant. This segment, Lost Tribe, is a beautifully moving collage of urban and rural portraiture.
