Video Pool’s New Artist in Media Art, Media Production and Wendy Geller Completion funds support the creation of new, independent media art works.  Eligible projects include video, sound or web based art, installation or performance works that include a media art component, physical computing, robotic or experimental electronic art as well as bio tech art.

Video Pool gives funding priority to experimental and emerging art practices.  Although eligible, traditional narrative, dramatic or documentary projects are unlikely to be awarded funds. See below for program guidelines.

Fund recipients are expected to exhibit their completed work at Video Pool’s Annual Fundholder Exhibition in PLATFORM Centre for Photographic + Digital Arts.  The exhibition takes place from the last week of July until the end of August.

Scott Leroux Fund for Media Arts Exploration

Scott Leroux was a unique and creative force during the time he spent making artwork at Video Pool Media Arts Centre. He had boundless energy and an ability to bring people together around his and others’ acts of expression. Suddenly, and sadly, Scott passed away on October 29, 2016. Video Pool is honoured to announce that his legacy will continue through a fund created by the Leroux family in Scott’s name that offers $1,200 for a one-month residency in our new Poolside Gallery. Artists will produce new work and are encouraged to spend this time experimenting and pushing the boundaries of Media Arts, using Poolside as a ‘living laboratory’ where work can be explored, developed, exhibited, and discussed.

Deadline: Monday, October 15, 2017
