Video Pool’s services are for independent artists, producers and community groups that are engaged in the production of artist-controlled, non-commerical, media works of social and / or artistic value.
Video Pool offers seven types of memberships
General Membership $30.00/year – Buy Online
Our general membership gives you discounted access to our workshops, the opportunity to apply for our New Artist in Media Art, Media Production or Wendy Geller Finishing Funds, the option to submit your work for distribution with Video Pool, and voting rights at our Annual General Meeting. There are no equipment or facilities rental privileges with a general membership.
User Membership $60.00/year
The user membership gives you discounted access to our workshops, the opportunity to apply for our New Artist in Media Art, Media Production or Wendy Geller Finishing Funds, and the option to submit your work for distribution with Video Pool. Full equipment and facility rental privileges.
Student Membership $30.00/year
Registered students receive the same privileges as a User member, but at a discounted student rental rates.
Joint Winnipeg Film Group Membership $40.00/year
For valid Winnipeg Film Group Members – must be a Winnipeg Film Group Production member in good standing for over a year with the in order to qualify for the Joint membership. Joint members receive the same privileges as a User member.
Organizational Membership $70.00/year
The Organizational membership applies to any organization or collective & includes full equipment and facility rental privileges.
Producer Membership $60.00/year
Producer Membership must be applied for in writing to Video Pool’s Producers’ Group. To become a Producer Member, an individual must be recognized by his/her peers as an independent artist working in new media; it is required that potential applicants to the Producers’ Group include a sample of their work with their letter of intent. Producer Members serve Video Pool by making recommendations about the direction of the organization at their quarterly meetings.
Annual Access Fee $600.00/year
Full equipment and facility use privileges for one annual fee (no additional rental fees will be applied).
For a flat rate of $600 the member may access equipment onsite or off for an entire year, subject to availability and schedule restrictions.
This is Video Pool’s way of supporting independent media artists with access that is even more affordable than our usual rates. More media – more time – buy bulk and save!
The Annual Access Fee is only for individual artists engaged in the production of artist-initiated, driven and owned work.
The artist purchasing the AAF must have no outstanding unpaid accounts, an acceptable payment history and a record of responsible equipment use at Video Pool.
Equipment and suite bookings are made on a first-come, first-served basis for all Video Pool members, regardless of membership category.
Editing suites may be booked for a maximum of three days in a week; location gear may be booked for a maximum of seven days in a row in any given month. Members requiring equipment or suites for longer periods of time may make a request to the Technical Department. Decisions on such requests will be made on a case-by-case basis and are binding.
A Penalty fee equivalent to the full User rental fee will be charged for late returns of equipment by an AAF Member. The Penalty fee will be charged for equipment returned late on the day it is due and for each day equipment is overdue. AAF members will not be allowed to rent equipment until the penalty fee is paid. Repeat and egregious offenders will be duly reported to the Board. At such time the Board may decide to revoke the member’s AAF Membership, with no refund of the AAF fee.
