Temporal Contours

Open Call for Performance Proposals

Note

Temporal Contours is currently on hiatus for the foreseeable future and not currently accepting submissions.

Temporal Contours, hosted by Video Pool Media Arts Centre, is a series of live audio performances by artists working in a variety of thoughtful approaches to sonic presentation. We aim to provide room for experimentation that re-considers or blurs the boundaries of what music is, strives for unique sound, values the exploration of chance, embraces the possibility of failure or generally challenges the listener to maintain an open ear.

With this in mind, we are seeking expressions of interest from artists who are developing or re-defining their own practice in the audio arts. Regardless of your level of experience, we would love to hear about the projects you are developing: improvisation, electro-acoustic, noise, bodily-performance with sonic components, ambient / drone, accousmatic, jazz, synth, etc, however you define it, we want to hear it!

VP is committed to using our platform to promote work by QTBIPOC / BIPOC Artists and strongly encourage members of these communities to apply.

Application Requirements:

  • All applications must be electronic, or paperless.
  • Artist bio (1 paragraph max)
  • Project Description (1 page max): please tell us how you are experimenting or pushing the limits of your practice.
  • Links or uploads of previous OR current work-in-progress (3 max). If there are specific areas of a track you would like us to hear please note their times.

We encourage both first-time and repeat applicants and aim to maintain an equitable stage. Unfortunately we do not have funding for travel however if you will be in Winnipeg and interested in performing please be in touch.

Video Pool Media Arts is committed to paying CARFAC-standard artist fees.

Our events are held in the wheelchair-accessible venue The Output located at 218-100 Arthur st in the Artspace Building.

This call is open on an on-going basis. The selection committee will meet periodically depending on the amount of submissions received.
